Wondering What To Do
1st Poem of Spring 2026
Safe comfortable secure a leopard dog sleeps on her bed inside the lead glass window facing east — an artesian handcrafted a century ago — spotted by elements of sunlight. Oblivious to her outside the window another winter storm blows fluttering ice crystals floating up and down and to the ground too accumulate unseen. Winter hangs on up here the vernal equinox has past days grow longer still Spring. Tall cedar tops bow disturbing large crows who reluctantly give up their perches while rigid maples unwillingly bend. I have been told the sun always wins by distant relatives a good old friend. In the below freezing temperature the first buds of this materializing Spring wildly wave on birch limbs wondering what to do. Wondering What To Do Apr. 14, 2026
